Just when everyone was starting to think that cinema was getting boring or streaming was taking over, we get Barbie.
We’ve put this post together as a quick guide on everything you need to know about the Barbie movie.
Margot Robbie leads this all-star cast and plays probably the world’s most recognisable kids toy in human form. As we have been seeing from the promotions, trailers and film snippets, Margot is undoubtedly the perfect person to play Barbie.
The trailer teases a bit of the film plot and tells us that all may not be pink and sparkly, as Barbie starts to lose her heeled feet, and must leave Barbie-land in search of a bigger world – or try and fix something in the real world.
People of the internet have been quick to talk about this and create buzz around the upcoming summer blockbuster. Most are excited and eager to see where this film will take us.

When we first heard the news that non other than Margot Robbie was going to be playing Barbie our initial reaction was, perfect. We couldn’t have imagined anyone else in this role quite frankly. Margot is a terrific actor and can turn her hand to pretty much anything.
In an interview Margot mentioned that there was a chance Warner Bros. would never let this movie happen (Margot Robbie, interview with BAFTA, April 5, 2023).
Nevertheless, we are positive she will make an excellent Barbie and maybe even start a franchise with this world.

So, we have our main character. Here are some other interesting bits you might like to know about the Barbie movie.
Ryan Gosling is playing Ken. Mr. Gosling has been the subject of several comments surrounding his role, particularly is age, but we know he is gonna smash it! From what we can see in the visuals this film is going to make an impact no matter what people think about him playing Ken.
We’ve spied some hidden bits in the trailer which point to ‘The Wizard Of Oz’, or at least pay homage to it. The notion of leaving and going down the yellow brick road might not be far from the truth for the plot of this movie. But we will have to wait and see where the pink magic takes us.
Did you know that Greta Gerwig and her team literally had meetings upon meetings to decide what shade of pink paint should be used for the set? Well now you do. And you think your team meetings are bad?

The Barbie trailer contains a lot of secrets hidden in plain sight – blink and you’ll miss them. We know that there is going to be emphasis on Ken as he accompanies Barbie out of Barbie-land. The poster slogans state, “she’s everything, he’s just Ken”, potentially giving a clue to what we can expect the movie to focus on.

When is Barbie out in cinemas?
Barbie will have its European premiere in July. The pink carpet will be held in London’s Leicester Square on Wednesday 12th July 2023 will the cast being present.
